I bought these because I loved the same pants I purchased a couple years ago. I was disappointed because there seem to be some shortcuts that will likely impact quality down the road. First, to me the fit is the same. They always feel tight on me at first but loosen up as I wear them. To that end, they seem to fit the same as the others I have. Second, material seems the same thankfully.
Issues: They changed the stitching down the outside of the pant leg. They inverted it to use fewer rows of stitches which I think looks bad/could impact durability (only time will tell but I preferred the prior look). The pockets are now sewn so that when I put my hand inside the pocket, it’s a rougher material/design that harshly rubs the back of my hand. It’s a different design than before. The stitched seem inside the pocket is thicker which matters because now there is an obvious pocket shaped line that can be seen through the pants and will likely wear faster. Belt loops are thinner too.

The fit is great, and I like the light weight. The phone pocket is on the back of the leg, and not very usable or comfortable if you sit with a phone in the pocket. But, overall, I am satisfied and would purchase these pants again.

I reordered the brown and Black and they updated the quality slightly, my old pairs were from a 2019 run, you can see it printed on a little tag, these were from 2021/2020, I had to send back the blacks to get a different length as the blacks were 2 inches longer than the browns, but they were diferent batch years so that may be a problem untill they-re all 2021 batches. The fabric feels better, and the inside pocket was soft, not like my first ones where they had this hard starched feel that never softened and would rub my leg raw cause they go down so far. I also got 2 extra belt loops in the back that my first ones did not have. My first ones shrunk to the point they where they were too tight so keep that in mind, it takes a while but they eventually shrink to a complete other size, so i upped the waist and length to counter that. If you order them and the waist is tight and the length is just right send them back and go p in waist and length, they’ll fit for awhile but with each wash and dry they’ll shrink just a little more. Overall i like these, i would just implement more stretch in the waist as it seems to not flex, and i would actually shorten the length of the front pockets. Also wish they would do the peat color or a darker gray, the gravel one is too light.

My very favorite work pants. Office appropriate but with the durable feel of canvas and the secure pocket openings of 5-pocket jeans that keep things from falling out. I finally need to replace a worn out pair, and I’m dismayed and baffled to see that of all colors, Carhartt has discontinued basic black.
This was the one Carhartt pant I still really wanted after downgrades to the old standard and flannel-lined jeans. Deeply annoyed that now I’ll need to spend good work pant money on some other worse option.

I liked everything about them and will be ordering again.

I own several of the MEN’S UTILITY WORK PANT-RELAXED FIT-TWILL and purchased the MEN’S 5-POCKET PANT-RELAXED FIT-RUGGED FLEX® -CANVAS to replace the worn-out utility pants. I find the canvas pants more comfortable, especially during the summer months. Both pants are of good value and are worth the purchase. I have not found any other work pants that are as durable or as comfortable

These are great pants, aside from the phone pocket, which 1. doesn’t fit an iPhone 12 (???) and 2. required a bulky seam of additional folded fabric inside the pant leg, the corner of which sticks into your leg in an irritating way. Hoping the fabric breaks in, otherwise I will have to tack the seam down somehow. More to the point, the fact it doesn’t fit a normal phone from 3-4 years ago, and my other Carhartt pants with the same pocket (the lined version of this pant) DO fit my phone…is just wild. As for fit, I am 5’10” 175lbs with an average build, and I purchased 33/30. They fit well-not as baggy as what I would consider “relaxed” but not slim, either. More of a “straight fit” like a Levis 501.

My first impression is favorable. The pants fit as well as Carhartt pants fit me. For some reason, the waists of Carharrt pants become more loose fitting throughout the day for me but an inch smaller waist is too tight. It would be helpful if Carharrt installed an inside tab buttonhole and button to keep their pants from sliding down my hips. I’m pleased these pants are available in a 33-inch waist because 34″ is impossible. The fabric seems as though it will be durable but it’s too early to tell. I prefer the flex of these pants to the traditional Carharrt work pants but I expect these pants will not be as durable as traditional Carharrt work pants. I haven’t laundered them yet.

I got these pants when I started a new job preforming simple maintenance jobs. I don’t do anything too crazy at work (such as construction) so I was very disappointed when these pants developed multiple rips after only 3 months. The knee ripped first and continues to get larger. The side pocket, where I keep a Gerber multi-tool, has torn through. The pocket I keep my car keys in is beginning to tear through, same with the back pocket I keep my work keys in. Very disappointed with the lack of strength of these pants. The pants are almost entirely cotton, so if you get them wet you’re going to stay wet for awhile. This also makes them pretty warm on hot days. Which for their lack of durability isn’t a worth while trade off to me.
These pants seem to be more for light work. If you plan on using them for work and have a even moderately strenuous job you may destroy them in short time.
Pros:
• Great fit
• Look good
Cons:
• If it’s hot you’re gonna notice in these
• Slow dry time
• poor durability

Really enjoy these; have several pair now. Easy to move in, comfortable. Side pocket just right for iPhone or other tools. And they look nice if I need to go to town.

Sizing inconsistencies are ridiculous especially for on line ordering . You never know how these will fit when you order depending on where they were made . I ordered 2 pairs of 30 x 32 and one was perfect the other too tight . They were made in 2 different countries . Hey carhartt do your customers and company a favor and move your production back to America and get consistent sizing . Your customers satisfaction should be the priority over profit . American made is what your company should stand for !

bought 4 pair and they all fit, order came quick and very happy with them. Finally something worked , good job

Nice pants but the zipper cover flap is fraying after 1 washing. Not typical Carhart quality

After four months of wearing these pants at my warehouse job in which I’m the manager and don’t really get much wear on the pants, both the rear pocket and crotch both ripped. Cheaply made and certainly not durable. Very disappointed as I thought I was buying a brand known for ruggedness. Sadly I bought another pair today as it’s the only brand carried in my size at this location. I brought it home to find the crotch already ripped

My wife got me this latest pair for Christmas because she knows she can’t go wrong with them as a present. These pants are tough yet very comfortable. I used to be a Levis only guy, but I haven’t bought a pair of those in quite a while. The side pocket on the Rugged Flex Relaxed Fit pants seals the deal, as it is so, sooooo convenient for putting the cell phone in, making sure you don’t accidently sit on it and possibly crack it in your back pocket. Definite ‘5 Star’ pants!

I have wore the double front jeans for several years now and the paints that I bought to replace some of the old ones are nothing like the older paints I have. The new ones are just plain junk both back pockets tear out at the top and one pair I had ripped from the top of the pocket to almost my knee at work one day. It’s like the material they make these with is rotten from the start and they don’t fit the same

I found these pants for work. They are very comfortable and easy to keep clean. There is plenty of room to kneel and squat without them bunching up on the family jewels. There are plenty of colors to choose from. I don’t think anyone would be disappointed in these pants.

My husband loves these pants and they look so nice on him. I highly recommend them !

Hi, woman here. Haven’t tested durability, but they’re in the top 5 best fitting pairs of pants I’ve ever owned. (That’s a great feat, if you don’t know.) If you’re buying without trying them on, SIZE UP. I’m normally a 26-27 inch waist, but of course men’s pants only go as low as a 28. So I went into my local workwear store to find some pants, and the only pair in these went down to, you guessed it, a 28. I was skeptical but decided to try them on. They’re almost *perfect*. Fit way better than the “women’s pants” they had in the store, and has a *very* minimal waist gap. Would definitely recommend for the comfort and fit, and honestly- they’re pretty flattering too. Added bonus. The best thing about them? Actual DEEP pockets. + a bonus tool pocket.
Here’s to hoping they hold up to being worn 4+ days a week.

My husband really likes these and the look nice on him. He wears dress pants to work that look way too big but he likes them that way. I have Carhartt pants and decided to order him 2 pair one Canvas and one Flex. These have gotten looser since he put them on and he’s good with that. 6’3″ size 44/34 Length is fine.

Excellent. Just wonder why that size is not in stores anymore. Highly inconvenient is all. I’m use to just going to a store and buying what I need is all.

Great pants. I bought two pair same size same cut. One pair fits a little tight and the other pair fits a bit loose. Both pair are 36 waist and 32 inseam. I would recommend trying them on if possible before purchasing. It seems sizing has been inconsistent over the past several years but other than that, I really like this product.

Compared to blue jeans the Carhartt are much more comfortable and a lot more flexible when bending over. At first I didn’t think I would use the side cellphone pocket, but now I’ve come to like it a lot also, much better than using a back pocket of blue jeans.
The other thing I liked about ordering Carhartt online is that I can order the inseam length I need, 28″.
Now that summer is coming I will have to try the shorts.

The feel, fit and front pocket style is different on some of this style pants depending on the country of origin. That’s why I am reluctant to buy online. On these particular pants it was the pockets that were different. These had a more horizontal hand opening (narrower) which I do not like. The others have an opening that extends further down the side seam giving you more room.

These are very nice. Well made & comfortable. I were them mostly for work around the house. They look nice enough that I can wear them anywhere. They are more comfortable than blue jeans and I expect more durable. I expect that I will be buying more of these.

This review is more for Carhartt to learn from than for other buyers.
I think the phone pocket should be deeper and maybe a bit tighter. I realize phones come in many sizes but I would bet the typical Carhartt patron does not want their phone falling out whether driving, in the yard or on the job site. Also, sizing should be looked at because I moved from 34 waist to 35 waist to wear them higher on my hips and though there is more volume in the seat, the waist is no larger than my 34s?
I still love Carhartt but this last pair was a bit disappointing.

The pants are comfy, my one complaint is that the phone/side pocket is about 1-2 inches too short. If I lay down or even sometimes when I sit down my phone falls out. Having that side leg pocket is a primary reason I like this style, so not working as good as it could for me…

My experience the past few years with carhartt has been that sizing, fit, and material are extremely inconsistent. Anytime I have found a fit and style that I like I have had no luck finding them again when the time comes. These fit and looked entirely different despite being the exact same size and fit. I have encountered this on multiple occasions. I will be returning these and only purchasing more if I can try them on in store prior to purchase.
